Türkiye’s pioneering high school focused on renewable energy, Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, has been recognized on a global stage by reaching the finals of the World’s Best School Prizes. This prestigious international awards program honors schools for their innovative contributions to society and the environment. Located in Ankara and established in 2017, the school has been named one of the ten finalists in the Environmental Action category.
The high school stands out for its comprehensive curriculum that integrates renewable energy systems, enabling students to engage directly with real-world energy systems and analyze energy data. The programs are designed to address critical environmental challenges by focusing on reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting zero-waste practices. A notable initiative, the Energy Detectives Project, empowers middle school students by educating them about carbon footprints, energy conservation, and waste reduction. Through this project, students actively monitor and work to reduce energy and water consumption in their schools.
In addition to its educational endeavors, the school has made significant contributions to disaster relief efforts. It has developed an energy bank to supply electricity to temporary shelters in the aftermath of earthquakes, showcasing its commitment to practical and impactful environmental solutions.
