Playing at Pat Rafter Arena, de Minaur secured the victory for Australia by defeating Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak 6-3, 6-3, solidifying his strong form following an earlier win against Maks Kasnikowski.
The team gained a significant advantage with a decisive doubles match win. Max Purcell and Rinky Hijikata overcame Polish duo Jan Zielinski and Karol Drzewiecki in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. The match, lasting 77 minutes, saw Purcell deliver powerful returns and two aces during the first-set tiebreak, while Hijikata maintained his serve to help clinch the victory.
Australia’s triumph was crucial after a previous defeat to Ecuador, which had increased the pressure to perform well against Poland. The doubles match pivotal win set the stage for de Minaur to close out the tie with his singles victory.
