Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to engage in talks centered on regional security issues, including the conflicts involving Iran and the situations in Gaza and Lebanon. This marks Fidan’s second visit to the UAE since March, as both countries aim to strengthen their cooperation against regional instability.

The discussions are anticipated to cover a range of topics, such as preparations for the next meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council. Fidan is expected to emphasize the necessity of enhanced regional collaboration to address ongoing conflicts and minimize external interference. Additionally, maintaining freedom of navigation through crucial maritime passages like the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait will be a significant point of discussion due to their importance to both regional and international trade.

Developments in Gaza are also on the agenda, with both Türkiye and the UAE expected to deliberate on the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction initiatives. As founding members of the Board of Peace, the two nations are likely to coordinate on its activities to support these efforts.

Efforts to sustain ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon and bolster regional stability will be another key focus of the talks. The strategic partnership between Türkiye and the UAE, established in 2023, has seen significant growth, with the High-Level Strategic Council holding its first leaders’ meeting in Ankara in July 2025.

Bilateral trade between Türkiye and the UAE reached $19.346 billion in 2025, positioning the UAE as Türkiye’s largest trading partner within the Gulf region. This economic relationship underscores the broader strategic interests both countries share, which are expected to be further explored during Fidan’s visit.
