by admin477351

Türkiye and France have signed a comprehensive road map aimed at strengthening defence and security cooperation between the two nations, the Turkish Defence Ministry announced. This new agreement, which encompasses intelligence sharing, air defence, and military training, seeks to create a more structured framework for collaborative efforts based on shared interests.

The road map outlines plans for regular security consultations and enhanced coordination against hybrid threats, aiming to improve compatibility between the countries’ defence systems. Additionally, it includes joint training and capacity-building activities in third countries to promote regional stability. Military collaboration will be further expanded through personnel exchanges among military academies, port visits, and combined exercises involving land, naval, and air forces.

Ankara and Paris are also set to develop joint defence projects, foster technology and information sharing, and boost cooperation between their respective defence industries. Bilateral defence meetings will rotate between the two capitals, with the first meeting scheduled for the final quarter of 2026.

In a separate statement, Türkiye criticized Israel for its military operations in southern Syria, which include raids, detentions, and air and artillery strikes. Defence Ministry spokesperson Rear Adm. Zeki Aktürk accused Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through excavation and road expansion activities near the separation line in Quneitra, urging the international community to take action to maintain regional peace and stability.

Aktürk also highlighted ongoing efforts to build confidence between Türkiye and Greece. Military delegations from both countries continue to engage in exchanges and discussions under the 2026 Confidence-Building Measures Implementation Plan.

On the border security front, the Turkish Defence Ministry reported that one PKK member surrendered in the past week. Turkish security forces apprehended 660 individuals attempting illegal border crossings, while preventing 1,383 others from crossing. Since the beginning of 2026, authorities have detained 13,366 people attempting unauthorized crossings and stopped 53,870 others from entering the country illegally.
