During a two-day official visit to Türkiye, Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir was welcomed at Ankara Airport by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The meeting took place just before Erdoğan embarked on an official trip to Qatar, underscoring the close ties between the two nations.
Also present at the Ankara Airport meeting were Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Chief of General Staff Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Director Ibrahim Kalın. Earlier in his visit, Munir engaged in separate discussions with Bayraktaroğlu, further highlighting the focus on military and defense collaboration.
This visit is part of a broader effort to strengthen the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Pakistan, particularly in the realm of defense cooperation, which remains a cornerstone of their bilateral relations. Both countries have been working closely under the leadership of President Erdoğan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to expand their cooperation across multiple sectors.
Munir has been an influential figure in Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives, including efforts aimed at mediating regional tensions. His recent activities reflect Pakistan’s active role in international diplomacy, with defense cooperation being a key area of mutual interest alongside other sectors.
