In response to US President Donald Trump’s recent assertions that Greenland should be under American control, Finnish leaders have firmly reiterated their stance on the matter. Following Trump’s comments at the NATO summit, Finnish President Alexander Stubb emphasized that decisions about Greenland’s governance are exclusively within the purview of Denmark and Greenland itself.
Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen also expressed Finland’s unwavering support for Denmark’s territorial sovereignty.
