Türkiye and China are bolstering their bilateral ties as they celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations, emphasizing collaboration in various sectors such as trade, technology, energy, and regional politics. Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, highlighted the historic roots of their relationship, which traces back to the Silk Road era, facilitating trade and cultural interactions between the two nations.
Formal diplomatic relations were established in 1971 and have seen substantial growth since then. Today, China stands as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with their trade volume exceeding $50 billion annually. The connectivity between the countries has also been enhanced with a rise in passenger and cargo flights connecting key cities. Türkiye has strengthened its diplomatic footprint in China by expanding its consulate network, reflecting a deepening economic engagement.
Ambassador Ünal pointed out that both countries are actively pursuing collaboration in critical areas like artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. They also share common views on international and regional matters, advocating for peace, stability, and development while focusing on conflict prevention. These shared perspectives underline the strategic nature of their relationship.
