Erdoğan Alerts: Iran Conflict Severely Impacting Global Economic Stability

by admin477351

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has highlighted the far-reaching impact of the Iran conflict, emphasizing that no nation can remain untouched by the crises unfolding globally. Speaking in Ankara after a Cabinet meeting, Erdoğan underscored the interconnectedness of today’s world, where economic and political disturbances in one region ripple across continents. He pointed to the ongoing repercussions following attacks on Iran on February 28, which he described as a complex crisis affecting global stability.

Erdoğan noted that the volatility in fuel prices, spiraling inflation, and ongoing supply chain challenges, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, are indicators of global fragility. He criticized what he sees as a speculative and manipulative financial system, suggesting that a few wealthy individuals are profiting at the expense of billions worldwide, from Africa to Asia and the Americas. This profiteering, he argued, exacerbates the financial hardships faced by middle- and lower-income families, who are grappling with diminishing purchasing power and rising costs.

The Turkish president stressed that regional conflicts now have global consequences due to economic interdependence, using the metaphor, “When a country in the Middle East sneezes today, a country in Latin America or Asia can easily catch a cold.” He warned that the full ramifications of the economic shockwaves from the Iran conflict are still unfolding, potentially destabilizing global economic prosperity.

Domestically, Erdoğan condemned the unjustified price hikes in Turkish markets, attributing them to opportunistic practices rather than genuine production or transportation cost increases. He assured that authorities would continue to monitor and combat these practices, urging businesses to collaborate in maintaining market stability and protecting consumers.

In a broader geopolitical context, Erdoğan also condemned Israel’s actions against the Global Sumud Flotilla, labeling the attack as “piracy” and “banditry.” He reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and emphasized that such aggressive actions would not deter the international community’s pursuit of justice and solidarity with the Palestinians. The flotilla, aimed at providing aid, included individuals from 40 countries, whom Erdoğan referred to as “voyagers of hope.”
